We have here, this is the buck converter power stage with the input voltage Vg of 24 volts, and output voltage that supplies a five ohm load resistor. Here, I have opened LTspice and opened the buck converter schematic. Or you can click on an element and it will plot the current through the element. When it's done, then to display a waveform, you can click on a node and it will give you the node voltage. When the simulation will take maybe 10 or 20 seconds to run. Then, what you do is press the run button to start the simulation. So, when you've done that, then you can double-click on this file buck.asc which will open the file in LTspice, and that file contains the circuit schematic. From this Coursera website, you can also download a zip file containing the buck converter circuit files for this example. From there, you can download free copies of the software either for Windows operating system or for the Macintosh operating system. To get started, what you should do is follow this link to the LTspice website. Also in red, here is a plot of the inductor current waveform during the same turn-on transient. The green wave form here is the output voltage that it computes, it goes through some turn-on transient and eventually settles down to a DC voltage that is approximately for the buck converter approximately equal to the input voltage multiplied by the duty cycle. So, here is a turn-on transient of a buck converter where the output starts at zero. Then, SPICE can numerically calculate things of interest in the converter such as the waveforms in a transient analysis, as well as other things like frequency analysis plots. Here's an example which we're going to talk about in this lecture. Since then, there have been many commercial implementations of it, and one of them LTspice is freely available now and I think works very well. SPICE is a program that was originally developed at UC, Berkeley in the 1960s. Know how to derive an averaged equivalent circuit model and solve for the converter efficiencyĪ basic understanding of electrical circuit analysis is an assumed prerequisite for this course.Be able to solve for the steady-state voltages and currents of step-down, step-up, inverting, and other power converters.Understand what a switched-mode converter is and its basic operating principles.Assignments include simulation of a dc-dc converter, analysis of an inverting dc-dc converter, and modeling and efficiency analysis of an electric vehicle system and of a USB power regulator. Principles of converter circuit analysis are introduced, and are developed for finding the steady state voltages, current, and efficiency of power converters. This course introduces the basic concepts of switched-mode converter circuits for controlling and converting electrical power with high efficiency. This course can also be taken for academic credit as ECEA 5700, part of CU Boulder’s Master of Science in Electrical Engineering degree. I am solving my problem by actually buying another machine and mig ht buy up to 4 machines so i don't have to change pads since i envision the velcro becoming a problem longterm. That said it will repair my hundreds of scratched up games i have to the point of near perfection. Further, the machine is not truly suitable for blu-rays that have any kind of scratch and most current generation games are blu-ray. On top of this you apply the paste manually. The machine has 4 pads and the design is velcro and so you are constantly changing pads non stop. This machine will repair really bad scratches however it takes up to half an hour of repeat cycles. The entry price would be awesome if it was problem free but you get what you pay for. After buying one i'm both very pleased and disappointed. Read full reviewĪt first glance this machine seems to be either a bargain or a toy. Just be aware that you will absolutely want to practice with a few junk discs. If you are looking to buy one of these, I would go ahead and suggest doing it. ALWAYS USE THE SPRAY THAT COMES WITH THIS. Run the disk with polishing solution for 20 seconds, let it sit for 10 seconds and run the disk again with polishing solution for 10 more seconds. I would run the disk for 20 seconds with the buffing solution, let it sit for 10 seconds, run the disk again with buffing solution for 10 seconds. The machine seems to get hot with continuous usage. I have primarily been cleaning playstation 2 games with light to moderate scratches all over the disk. Once I figured out what worked I had no problems. It's really just a lot of trial and e rror. While using this machine I have noticed that certain disks seem to respond differently to sand paper, buffing solution and polishing solution. The instructions provided suggested keeping the disk in for 2 minutes.which I found to be way to much time. I tested the machine on a variety of setting and kept notes on what exactly worked. I destroyed about 6 disks before I got the hang of it. I don't regret buying this but I will go ahead and say that you need to practice before actually cleaning disks you want to keep. This disk cleaner has received mixed reviews but it seemed like the best option in my price range. I purchased a large amount of video games from a used game store and needed a machine that could clean them without breaking the bank. With great power comes great responsibility With the construction of the large supercarriers of the Cold War era, the practice of operating each carrier in a single formation was revived. These carrier groups eventually formed the Fast Carrier Task Force, which became the primary battle force of the U.S. By 1943 however, large numbers of fleet and light carriers became available, which required larger formations of three or four carriers. These single-carrier formations would often be paired or grouped together for certain assignments, most notably the Battle of the Coral Sea and Midway. In contrast, the United States Navy deployed its large carriers in separate formations, with each carrier assigned its own cruiser and destroyer escorts. Kido Butai operated as the IJN's main carrier battle group until four of its carriers were sunk at the Battle of Midway. This task force was used with devastating effect during the Pearl Harbor Attack. The Imperial Japanese Navy, IJN, was the first to assemble a large number of carriers into a single task force, known as Kido Butai. The first naval task forces built around carriers appeared just prior to and during World War II. Demonstrations of Nemesis platforms and payload will be conducted during fleet experimentation, as well as during focused field and laboratory tests. The USS Abraham Lincoln carrier battle group during 20 June 2000 RIMPAC exercisesĪ carrier battle group ( CVBG) consists of an aircraft carrier (designated CV) and its escorts, together comprising the group. Nemesis expendable decoys and prototype system hardware will be completed and delivered for field testing. PE 0603801N / (U) Innovative Naval Prototypes (INP) Advanced Technology Development: Complete the Nemesis project, previously funded in 0603271N Electromagnetic Systems Advanced Technology Development, by designing and building prototype Nemesis payloads that implement industry standards for software, hardware, and firmware interfaces. These emerging technologies are being designed and developed for prototype Nemesis systems which will be capable of performing coordinated EW operations across distributed EW systems. Technologies being matured include swarming vehicle operations, distributed resource mission control, multi-domain coordinated operations and advanced RF component and subsystems technologies. PE 0602792N / (U)Innovative Naval Prototypes(INP) Applied Research: Complete the Nemesis project by finishing research efforts to develop and mature technologies in multiple areas that will be used to assess the feasibility of Nemesis to coordinate Electronic Warfare (EW) operations across distributed EW systems. This allows shorter-range expendables to be employed, which are less expensive, smaller, and can be carried in higher numbers than larger payloads like cruise missiles. Undersea platforms could be one of the most effective methods to deliver EMW expendables because they can closely approach enemy coastlines and targets. Using these expensive SAMs to defeat large numbers of balloons-some which might be decoys-could be costly and operationally impractical for aggressors.Īnother innovative delivery method for EMW expendables could be from undersea platforms, which may be the best use of undersea payload capacity in general. Furthermore, defeating balloon-delivered EMW expendables would likely require SAMs that can reach very high altitudes. High altitude balloon technologies are very mature and may cost significantly less than other delivery methods. Launching small EMW UAVs, missiles, or munitions from very high altitude (60,000 to 120,000 feet) balloons could be a less expensive option than using a missile. Launching EMW expendables at higher altitudes is another approach to extending their ranges and endurance. The milk contains fat, protein, and red and white blood cells. Production is stimulated by the hormone prolactin. Both the male and the female contribute to building the nest, and to defending the nest and egg. Occasional same-sex pairs have been reported.Īfter the chicks hatch, the only parental expense is feeding. Both the male and the female feed their chicks with a kind of crop milk, produced in glands lining the whole of the upper digestive tract (not just the crop). Flamingos aggressively defend their nesting sites. Nest building is sometimes interrupted by another flamingo pair trying to commandeer the nesting site for their own use. They locate a suitable spot on the mudflat to build a nest (the spot is usually chosen by the female). It is during nest building that copulation usually occurs. Both males and females in these groups perform synchronised ritual displays. The members of a group stand together and display to each other by stretching their necks upwards, then uttering calls while head-flagging, and then flapping their wings. The displays do not seem to be directed towards an individual but instead occur randomly. These displays stimulate "synchronous nesting" (see below) and help pair up those birds who do not already have mates.įlamingos form strong pair bonds although in larger colonies flamingos sometimes change mates, presumably because there are more mates to choose from. Flamingo pairs establish and defend nesting territories. These large colonies are believed to serve three purposes for the flamingos: avoiding predators, maximising food intake, and using scarce suitable nesting sites more efficiently. Before breeding, flamingo colonies split into breeding groups of about 15 to 50 birds. from animals that have digested blue-green algae).įlamingos are very social birds they live in colonies whose population can number in the thousands. Flamingos whose sole diet is blue-green algae are darker in colour compared to those who get it second hand (e.g. These carotenoids are broken down into pigments by liver enzymes. The source of this varies by species, and affects the saturation of colour. The pink or reddish colour of flamingos comes from carotenoids in their diet of animal and plant plankton. The filtering of food items is assisted by hairy structures called lamellae which line the mandibles, and the large rough-surfaced tongue. Their bills are specially adapted to separate mud and silt from the food they eat, and are uniquely used upside-down. A well-fed, healthy flamingo is more vibrantly coloured and thus a more desirable mate a white or pale flamingo, however, is usually unhealthy or malnourished. Captive flamingos are a notable exception many turn a pale pink as they are not fed carotene at levels comparable to the wildįlamingos filter-feed on brine shrimp and blue-green algae. Young flamingos hatch with greyish reddish plumage, but adults range from light pink to bright red due to aqueous bacteria and beta-Carotene obtained from their food supply. A study on cadavers showed that the one-legged pose could be held without any muscle activity, while living flamingos demonstrate substantially less body sway in a one-legged posture. As well as standing in the water, flamingos may stamp their webbed feet in the mud to stir up food from the bottom.įlamingos are capable flyers and flamingos in captivity often require wing clipping to prevent escape. An alternative theory is that standing on one leg reduces the energy expenditure for producing muscular effort to stand and balance on one leg. One theory is that standing on one leg allows the birds to conserve more body heat, given that they spend a significant amount of time wading in cold water. However, the behaviour also takes place in warm water and is also observed in birds that do not typically stand in water. The reason for this behaviour is not fully understood. Flamingos usually stand on one leg while the other is tucked beneath their body. It should easily fit in the ‘standard’ medium to long-distance carriers but also on some of the shorter distance ones (as I’ve experienced). So where do you keep your precious gear when you’re on a plane with your Sukha checked in? Well, why not in your Tilopa and XL Pro ICU, which you’ll store nicely in the overhead bins! And even if the airline staff starts complaining about the size of the Tilopa, you simply take out the ICU and easily place it in the overhead bin separately. pack both in a larger bag and fill with other travel baggage Storing your bag as check-in baggage, same for the ICU e.g.Short to medium-duration tracks (due to higher weight).2-3 DSLRs, 2 long (attached) lenses (1 prime, 1 zoom), various wide angle lenses for landscapes, etc. Long (week/month) trips, quick access to your gear.Storing your bag & gear as carry-on baggage in overhead bins on a plane.Very suitable for (very) long-duration tracks due to the relatively low weight.2 DSLRs, 2 long (disconnected) lenses (1 prime, 1 zoom) Short (day/weekend) trips, should have sufficient time available to get the gear, change lenses etc.So how does this combo help you in the field? Here’s how I plan to use these bags: 9 cm/3.5 inch) than the Sukha and is a perfect fit for the XL Pro ICU, which became unemployed after I got my Tele Master ICU. While F-stop indicates the smaller version of the Tilopa, the ‘Ajna’ is suitable as carry-on baggage, the Tilopa should be accepted with a number of airlines as well (with a bit of luck after all I did manage to get the Sukha on a plane…). With the Tele Master ICU inserted, forget about bringing your Sukha on a plane it will have to travel separately as checked-in luggage. One time I actually had to remove the XL Pro ICU with my gear from the backpack as it didn’t fit anymore in the overhead bins. There’s just one problem: due to its size it’s a (near impossible) struggle to get the Sukha on a plane as carry-on baggage (for obvious reasons). What a combination! The ICU fills the entire bag and (obviously) has the unique top opening, so you can have access to your gear in an instant, without having to open the zippers on the inside of the bag first (F-stop bags open from the inside, rather than from the outside). When the Tele Master ICU did finally become available I decided to buy it and see how it would fit in the Sukha. This ICU wasn’t available at the time I got the Sukha, so I went with the second largest ICU, the ‘XL Pro’.į-stop Sukha (left) and Tilopa (right) backpacks The largest ICU to be used with the Sukha is the rather massive ‘Tele Master’ ICU. the type of gear required for the day, or several days, the type of environment, the type of photography etc. You can add one big ICU in your bag, or a combination of several smaller ones depending on your personal preferences e.g. F-stop bags use an internal ‘bag’ for your gear called ‘Internal Camera Unit’ (ICU), available in various sizes. One of the key reasons I got the Sukha is its design to store a 600mm prime lens attached to a DSLR – upright, and to retrieve the entire set quickly from the top opening of the back. On my last trip to Canada, where I had the opportunity to capture some amazing images of Snow Owls (see Snow Owls of Canada, Part 3 (and: a little on image editing) I tried a new bag: the F-stop ‘Sukha’. And on my last trip I discovered the Lowepro is insufficiently waterproof when water had entered the bag after I left it for about 20 minutes outside in the rain (drizzle). Similar to the ThinkTank bags, the Lowepro can store a lot of gear but it will not comfortably store your 600mm prime. I also have a Lowepro Pro Trekker 400 AW bag which I’ve carried on my trips to Asia last time to Bohol in the Philippines (check out my previous article: Gremlins vs. But they’re not going to help me in comfortably walking long distances and having immediate access to my gear. Let’s go through a couple of examples: I have a 2 ThinkTank bags that wil help me get a lot of my gear on a plane. There are however not many camera bags out there designed for this purpose. Ideally, you’ll have immediate access to your camera, attached to your super telephoto prime lens. And when the opportunity comes up, that shot you’ve been waiting for, for months or even years, you want to have access to your gear as quickly as possible without having to dig around, attach a different lens to your camera, struggling to keep your bag and gear upright instead of falling into the sea or off a cliff… just to name a few of the many challenges for nature photographers. If you’re into nature and wildlife photography there’s a pretty good chance you’re carrying several kilograms of long lens glass and at least one or more (semi-) professional DSLRs. In this article I’ll focus on two items that can be quite useful and sometimes critical in your photography travels. PLEASE NOTE! And yes, I'm old enough to have been around when Geoff Crammond was still doing his thing (Formula One Grand Prix was such an obsession back in the day I'd write a mini-fanzine reporting on each race in-between the full-length Grand Prix I'd run every Sunday), to have manhandled the Ferrari 312 around the original 8.774 mile Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Grand Prix Legends and to have pumped 20p pieces into Namco's Final Lap. Let's get straight to business, shall we? F1 2019 is the most authentic F1 game I've played. If you are facing errors and issues with other PC games or your PC then also see our hub for commonly occurring PC errors and their fixes. The introduction of F2 and a suite of small improvements elsewhere make for a thrillingly authentic take on motorsport's top-flight. That is all for our F1 2020 fixes for errors like Ego Dumper, crash at startup, black screen, and more. This will fix the performance issues with the game for good. Again, diable in-game v.sync, display mode should be set at fullscreen. In case you are still facing stuttering, follow the steps mentioned above but set Vertical Sync to “Fast”. This should fix stuttering and any FPS issues with F1 2020. Start the game and disable in-game v.sync. Set Texture filtering – Quality to “High Performance” Set Power Management to “Prefer Maximum Performance” If the above scenario doesn’t apply to you then, open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > Select the game. Select the game from the list and assign the “High-Performance profile” to the game under Graphics Settings. For Nvidia GPU users, open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select the game > select “High-performance Nvidia processor”.įor AMD GPU users, open Radeon Settings > Preferences > Additional Settings > Power > Switchable Graphics Application Settings. If you are playing on a laptop with a dedicated GPU, there is a chance that the game isn’t switching to the dedicated GPU and is causing performance issues. First, make sure you have installed the latest GPU drivers and there is no background process using too much CPU, GPU, or HDD. According to players, they are facing low FPS, stuttering, and random FPS drops while playing F1 2020. Performance is often an issue with PC video game and F1 2020 is no exception. Apply the change and start the game and the radio will be working when switching to headphones. If it’s set to False, then just change it to True. Go to the game’s install folder and open “hardware_settings_config.xml” in notepad. This should get the audio working with your headphones in F1 2020.Īlso, players have reported that the radio audio doesn’t work if they switch to headphones. Select the “off” from the drop-down menu and apply the change. Select your active audio device > Properties > Spatial Sound tab. Open Settings > System > Sound > click “Sound Control Panel”. No Audio FixĪccording to F1 2020 PC players, they aren’t getting any audio if they switch to headphones. If you are using an older build of the OS, then just update the OS and the game will start working as intended. New games often require a specific build of Win 10 to run properly. Disable any third-party tools you are using and the issue will be fixed.Īlso, make sure you are using the latest build of Windows 10. Using third-party tools and monitoring software like MSI Afterburner can also cause the game to crash at launch. Either disable the anti-virus or exclude the game’s folder and F1 2020 won’t crash at launch. Apply the change and the game should be working fine.Īnother reason for the game to crash at launch might be your anti-virus/Windows Defender blocking the game’s exe. Right-click exe > Properties > Compatibility tab > check “run this program as administrator”. One reason for the game to crash at launch or not launch at all is the lack of admin rights. Here are a few things that’ll help you fix this issue. F1 2020 PC players are reporting that the game either crashes at startup or doesn’t launch at all.
